Embedeonkaamos

Outdoor LED dimmer · 12 V and 24 V

Your lights follow the sun. All year, without a timer.

kaamos sits between the power supply and an outdoor LED strip. Every day it works out sunrise and sunset for the exact spot it is mounted, and it sets the strip to your daytime level or your night level. There is no app, no account and no internet connection.

The kaamos housing: a light grey box with an orange setup button, two cable glands underneath and two wall-mounting tabs on top

Sunset moves by hours across the year. A timer doesn't.

Each column is one day of 2026, midnight at the top and bottom. kaamos runs the strip at your daytime level in the bright band and at your night level in the dark one. It recalculates every day, so it stays right through the seasons, and through the midnight sun and the polar night.

Pick a place to see how long its days get.

Standard time, no daylight saving. Sun times use the NOAA solar equations, the same ones the firmware runs.

Installed in one visit

  1. Wire it

Lid off: supply cable through one gland into the input terminal, strip cable through the other into the output terminal. It runs from any 12 V or 24 V DC supply and drives the strip at that same voltage.

  2. Set it up from a phone

On first power-up kaamos opens its own Wi-Fi network. Join it and the setup page appears by itself, the way hotel Wi-Fi does. Your phone fills in the location; you set the time and the two brightness levels.

  3. Close it and leave it

Save, close the lid and mount it on the wall. The Wi-Fi switches off and kaamos runs on its own from then on. To change a setting later, open the lid and press the setup button.

What's inside

Keeps time on its own

A temperature-compensated clock with a coin-cell backup keeps the time through power cuts. It drifts about two and a half minutes a year.

Gentle changes

At sunrise and sunset the strip fades between your two levels over five minutes, with flicker-free hardware dimming.

Hard to break

A supply wired backwards, a voltage surge on the cable or a short on the strip side won't damage it. After a short it switches the output off and retries safely.

Made for outside walls

Gasket-sealed housing, cable glands for the wiring, stainless steel screws and a breathable vent that stops condensation building up.

Strips up to 5 A

That is about 60 W of strip on a 12 V supply or 120 W on 24 V, continuously.

Nothing to sign up for

No cloud service, no app to install, and nothing that stops working when a server is switched off.
